Members of the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community celebrated another year of achievements with the group’s traditional annual meeting and pond-side picnic at Bill and Mitzie Young’s Castleton farm last Sunday.
Those foresighted enough to bring bathing suits joined the youngsters splashing in the cool water, keeping both 90-plus temperature and humidity at bay.
The picnic spread—a potluck collection of salads, fried chicken, home-baked breads, fruit and sweets— never even had time to wilt. Lines formed immediately to empty bowls and platters and then reformed for a second trip around three long tables that groaned under the weight of the feast.
Outgoing president Frank Reynolds hit the high points of the past year, and incoming president Martin Woodard briefly outlined his goals for the next before the microphone was yielded to Dan Lewis amd his guitar for a set of country songs.
