Rappahannock 4-H and pre-4-H youngsters exhibiting livestock at the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show opening tonight at the Agricultural Enterprise Center outside Culpeper have put months of effort into their entries, starting with the care and feeding of their animals since shortly after birth.
Birgitt Thornhill, Rappahannock Extension Agent, said that there will be 17 entries this year from the county, representing the efforts of 12 livestock club members.
The hogs, sheep and steers shown tonight and tomorrow night will be cleaned, clipped and on their best behavior for the judges.
According to Mrs. Thornhill, the Rappahannock young people exhibiting are: Beef — Will Oliver, Jennifer McNear, Heidi Maeyer and Elizabeth Oliver; Swine — Ervin Starks, Tyrone Starks and Joyce Starks; Lambs — Susanna McNear, Michael Brown, Tyrone Starks, Greg Williams, Alice Reeve, Robbie Reeve, Mary Beth Williams and Laura McNear.
The show runs from Thursday to Monday evenings, with events scheduled each day and at night.
