Many of the businesses in town are planning special sales and demonstrations to coincide with the celebration. Washington Antiques Upholstery and Interiors will have an open house both days, serving cinnamon cider and roasted chestnuts. Real- ' tor Roger Batchelder’s office on Gay Street (across from Trinity
Church) will be serving fresh pressed cider from Mountain Green Farm.
The Rush River Company, also on Gay Street, will have several craftsmen demonstrating and discussing their techniques. Saturday afternoon, from 2 to 4, Barbara Bockmann will demonstrate linoleum block printing and illustration. Jinny Beyer, a well-known quilter and fabric designer, will also be on hand to show her quilting techniques, as well as to autograph her books. On Sunday, also from 2 to 4, Janet Brome will explain and demonstrate the decorative painting techniques she uses on her pottery.
Kramer and Eiland Woodworking, across from the Town Hall on Gay Street, will have an open house in their showroom both days.
The Gay Street Theatre plans an open house from 11 a. m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, featuring a matinee showing of the Christmas classic, Scrooge at 3 p.m. The film will also be shown Saturday evening at 7:30. There will be no admission charge at either showing. The screenings are being sponsored by Kramer-Eiland Woodworking.
