“The same as with any other tenant house,” the zoning administrator said.
“Density,” explained Mr. Miller, noting that, under the terms of the proposed zoning ordinance, more than one dwelling unit can be built on a lot only if the density of one unit per 25 acres in agricultural zones and one per 50 acres in conservation zones is not exceeded.
“I have no problem with a Mexican family or any other family of whatever denomination in a house for 12 months or five years . . .
They’re treated like any other individual. It’s when you bring in 40 or 50 and put them all in one unit,” said Mr. Estes. “That’s a very different situation ... I think it’s the duty of this board to think of the rest of the residents of Rappahannock County rather than a special interest group.”
“But it’s to the benefit of everybody in Rappahannock County that the agricultural industry and the orchard industry remain a viable force,” Mr. Baumgardner contended.
