Mr. Muto of Japan and Mr. Srivastava of India met with the students representing their respective countries. The students, who had been researching their countries for several weeks, were able to discuss the domestic and international issues which the countries were debating in the actual United Nations.
While participating in the model United Nations the Wakefield students were able to propose, and have passed, several resolutions ih ■ the Special Political Council, the toGenerahAsBembly, and the Council on Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs. Additionally, Theo Larrieu, of Manassas, representing India, was able to draft and pass several resolutions in the Security Council of the model United Nations.
This is the second year Wakefield has participated in the model United Nations held at John F. Kennedy High School in Plainview, Long Island. Accompanied by teachers Erin Duffy and Margaret Doyle, the students found the trip to be both educational and entertaining.
