Washington Antiques Center, at the comer of Gay Street and Mt. Salem Avenue, will feature Mary McCloy demonstrating the techniques used in caning and rush weaving of chair seats.
Several interesting events are planned for the Foster-Harris House, located on South Main Street. Pat Foster and Camille Harris will discuss the restoration process and decorative painting techniques they used in renovating their tum-of-the-century home. Pastry chef Ann Kolack will demonstrate making personalized Christmas gingerbread houses. Coffee and gingerbread cookies will be served.
Country Heritage Bed and Breakfast will have an open house Saturday evening from 7 until 9, serving hot wassail and petit-fours. On Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., the Early Music Consort will entertain with Renaissance and Baroque music, and refreshments will again be served.
The romance of the formal dancing of the colonial era will be featured at La Galerie des Beaux-Arts, across Piedmont Avenue from Heritage House. The landed gentry in full colonial costume will dance the minuet by candlelight at 6 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, and again at 2 and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
