his desk, looked in a small notebook, punched a small hand-held calculator for a few minutes, wiggled his eyebrows, scratched himself vigorously in several places, picked up a small pad of paper, scribbled on it, tore off the page and threw it away, and then (with a look of finally attaining success in a very difficult mathematical equation), wrote a number on the page and handed it to our man.
“Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars,” the note read.
Then our hero thanked the Sales Manager profusely for bringing him down to Manassas late on a Friday afternoon to drive a hundred miles in traffic, wherein 99 percent of the drivers were trying to get home for dinner - and the best way out of that town at that time was by helicopter.
Oh, how our hero did appreciate that drive in the country!
