Noted photo journalist to speak
Ed Clark, veteran photojournalist for Life magazine, will be the first speaker at the Rappahannock County Library’s “Second Friday” series. Mr. Clark’s talk and slide show will be presented at the Gay Street Theatre Friday, Dec. 12, at 8 p.m. There is no admission charge. Mr. Clark’s presentation is being co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library and RAAC.
ARB to meet
The Architectural Review Board will meet Thursday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. in the courthouse. Interested persons are urged to attend.
RCES concert
The Rappahannock County Elementary School concert will be presented in the auditorium today, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Included are the elementary band, chorus and grades one through four. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Eclectic Artist
RAAC’s Artists’ Forum will present “The Eclectic Artist” at its next presentation Friday, Dec. 12, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Blackwater Homestead. Sam Clifton, architectural designer, builder/project manager, stained-glass restoration consultant and fibre artist/sculptor, will lead a discussion on one artist’s approach to making a living through his art. Tea and candlelight tour
at The Conyers House
The Conyers House invites the public to attend an elegant Christmas tea and candlelight tour on Sundays, Dec. 14, 21 and 28. Each of the 45 windows in the 18th century four-story farmhouse will be aglow with a welcoming Christmas light.
The Conyers House, the first and oldest country inn in Rappahannock County, is located on Slate Mills Road at the southern tip of the county.
The cost of the tea and tour is $6.50 per person and the time is from 2 to 5 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 703-987-8025.
Beekeepers meeting and dinner
The Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association will hold its annual Christmas meeting and dutch treat dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, at John’s Family Restaurant in Culpeper. An interesting program in planned, with Tim Hartley speaking on “Just When You Thought You Knew It All.” There will also be door prizes and a chance to examine many types of bee equipment.
