Aid to the contras
Questioned by several members of the audience about his position on aid to the contra guerrillas fighting the Sandanista government in Nicaragua, the conservative congressman replied, “That communistdominated regime poses a grave security threat to the United States. We cannot allow the unlimited spread of communism - certainly not in the Western Hemisphere.”
