Last turkey shoot

The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its last turkey shoot of the year this Friday, Dec. 12, at the fire station. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Twelve gauge shotguns only, no sleeves.

Offices to be closed

The Treasurer’s Office, Commissioner of Revenue, General District Court and Registrar’s Office will close at noon Wednesday, Dec. 24. The offices will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.

The Rappahannock National Bank will close at noon Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25. The Clerk’s Office will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 as will the Family Guidance Services. In case of an emergency, clinic staff may be reached by calling 675-3329.

The Farmers & Merchants Bank will close at noon Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25. They will be open until noon Dec. 26. The Social Services Department will be closed Dec. 25. The Rappahannock Library will close at noon Dec. 24 and will be closed the 25th through the 28th. The library will reopen Monday, Dec. 29.

Farm tax workshop

The Extension Office is sponsoring a workshop on changes in the tax laws as they relate to farming. According to Extension Agent Birgitt Thornhill, there are things which farmers can do before the first of the year to help their situation. The workshop will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the courthouse. For more information call the Extension Office (675-3619).

Santa at Castleton

Come see Santa Claus at the Castleton Fire and Rescue Department Sunday, Dec. 1U, from 2 to 5 p.m. “Come take a ride on the fire truck with Santa, ” said an organizer.

Talent program

The First Baptist Church in Washington wrill present a talent program Friday, Dec. 12, at 8 p.m., with music by the singing groups of the county. The show will benefit the Rappahannock Citizen League. All are invited to attend.
