were ecstatic about the win. Mrs. Mills said the victory really gave them a sense of pride.

Every member of the class had a responsibility pertaining to the competition. If they did not compete they helped with score keeping, making name tags, or providing moral support. The team members were Captain Jason Butler, Danny Huff, Gail Hitt, Irvin Freeman, Charles Slaughter, Craig Smith, Daniel Meredith, Bobbi Jo Wines, and Sherri Wines.

Mrs. Mills explained that the purpose of the contest was to provide an enjoyable means for practicing comprehension skills. They had the chance to apply classroom skills in a “real life” situation. It also helped them with understanding how a newspaper is laid out and where to find specific things in a newspaper.

Culpeper will host Rappahannock in another contest April 8 or 9.
