In the grip of rushing through preparations for the winter holidays, caught in a sweaty panic about “time running out,” stumped about what to get friends and relatives, you may stop and ask yourself: “What am I doing this for?” Calming down, you will remember the purpose that inspired all this seasonal craziness - we are celebrating our love for one another. As we carry out the ritual of holiday shopping, we are searching for signs of love.
To create something is an act of love. Unfortunately, the demands of our lifestyles often do not allow us to create gifts for everyone near and dear to us. The next best thing to making something ourselves is to give a work of art created by someone else. The artist takes time to translate her or his loving visions into some material form to be shared.
The Middle Street Gallery Christmas Show offers an opportunity to find handcrafted gifts for those we love. Twenty-five artists are showing works which they feel are worthy of helping you to express your feeling of connection with others. The large number of artists’ visions represented increase the chances that you will find something that aptly expressed the vision of your heart.
