comic and sweet to the haunting and ceremonial. Some of them expand our perceptions with their whimsical exploration.
Jeanne Drevas’ pots are a beautiful expression of such originality in their shapes and colorful decoration. Joel Hoyer also expands our capacity for expression by incorporating themes and concepts from other cultures. His gold-gilded masks would make unique tree ornaments, linking us with people in other parts of the earth, as well as making a striking addition to any home’s interior design.
Andrea Klopp’s carved wooden spoons combine great beauty and grace with function. Viewing her pieces I felt her love of wood to be extremely tangible, and contagious.
Not only is the work at the Middle Street Gallery beautiful, it also has a wide price range, from $8.50 and up. There are prints and smaller pieces — and all the work is reasonably priced.
