The average water bill with that schedule Mr. Fisher projected at $13.52; the yearly income he estimated at $24,370.
The second schedule which Mr. Fisher presented for consideration would generate an estimated $27,500 per year, resulting in an average monthly bill of $15.86. Tlie base rate increases to $10, while usage of 3,000 to 10,000 gallons is charged at 25 cents per 100 gallons. From 10,000 to 15,000 gpm, the fee is 30 cents per 100 gallons, usage over 15,000 gpm is charged at 50 cents per 100 gallons.
The water authority’s present rate schedule, which generates about $12,000 per year, has a base rate of $6 for the first 3,000 gallons. From 3.000 to 10,000 gallons, the rate is 20 cents per 100 gallons; usage of more than 10,000 gallons is charged at a rate of 30 Cents per 100 gallons. The monthly bills presently average just over $8, according to Mr. Fisher.
He added that almost half of the town’s 120 taps never exceed the base usage, and that therefore revenue cannot be increased unless rates are raised.
