‘The guys have gained a lot of experience through Rappahannock Athletic Association summer program. They have a lot of knowledge - - but that’s different than the seasoned experience of varsity baseball,” Coach Leake said.
“They’re working hard - they want it! The key will be how well we play early. They are anxious to get out on the field and play. I’m looking forward to opening day — the guys are definitely ready!”
Coach Leake added that the home opener, as well as the first Bull Run District game, will be against Stonewall Jackson at 4 p.m. next Tuesday.
He said that, being a three-year RCHS varsity veteran himself, he is looking forward to coaching the Panthers this spring. “Baseball is still my first love . . . I’ve always been anxious to get back to it. I’m excited about it.”
