The Rappahannock County Elementary School SPTA had its regular monthly meeting March 3 in the school cafeteria.
The association decided to distribute letters concerning the World Book Encyclopedia to each child. The class which returns the most responses will receive a free set of science encyclopedias given by the World Book Company.
The elementary teachers requested that the SPTA write a letter to the school board to suggest a late school arrival plan on inclement days which are questionable. The parents were supportive of this idea.
President Cindi Andreoni conveyed a request from Librarian Lucia Kilby for a volunteer to straighten the library’s shelves and card catalogue. Mrs. Kilby said this will accelerate the end of the year inventory.
Parents are still concerned that they are not aware of the curriculum or goals of their children’s classes. Therefore, an informational program with Principal Maggie Piper is scheduled for the beginning of the next school year to help answer parents’ questions.
