Hie Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross this week launched its annual drive to raise funds to continue its operations and to eliminate a $2,000 deficit.

This year the chapter, which serves Fauquier and Rappahannock counties, is asking for $23,869, $2,000 more than last year. But that, explains H. T. A. Nevill, chapter president, is to make up for a shortfall in contributions last year. The area’s residents were very generous last year, Mr. Nevill says, but much of what they gave went to national headquarters for disaster relief. Apparently, people were unable to support both the national campaign and the local efforts.

The Fauquier chapter has to forward to national headquarters nearly one-quarter of the funds it collects in its regular annual fund
