Headmaster Willian Lynn, addressing the graduates assembled in the senior garden, reminded them that Wakefield School’s requirements for graduation are the stiffest in Virginia, with 26 credits required
to receive the General Academic Diploma. Three of the 27 seniors received the 35-credit Advanced Honors Diploma, while four others received the 33-credit Advanced Studies Diploma.
Wakefield’s graduates then received their diplomas. The giris were dressed in white gowns, the boys in white trousers, naVy blazers and straw boaters.
Following the presentation of diplomas to Rappahannock County High School’s 64 graduates, there was time for one last prank. As Principal Robert Chappell completed his certification of the graduating class, a shower of confetti was thrown into the air and a spray can appeared above the graduates, showering them with streamers. The audience burst into applause.
