In 1916, President Wilson participated in the first Father’s Day cele-. bration by pushing a button in Washington, D. C., which unfurled a flag in Spokane. However, it was not until 1972 that a Congressional resolution officially established Father’s Day.
Father’s Day is generally celebrated today by sending special gifts, or making a tribute to a father who has died.
