Rappahannock News photo/Lou Hatter THE SPERRYVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE Department recently received a $13,000 loan from the Farmers Home Administration for equipment and gear to refurbish and outfit its new truck, which was donated by the Fairfax County Fire Department. Chief Ricky Lillard (left) and Captain Richie Burke (right) accept the check from FmHA agent James Allen. Equipment purchased by the department includes new running gear, hose, ladders and nozzles, and entry and rescue equipment. Sperryville’s firemen’s carnival runs through Saturday at the carnival grounds adjacent to the firehouse on Rt. 211 west. The carnival is one of the department’s major fundraising efforts, and Chief Lillard and Captain Burke urge the community to come out, have a good time, and support the fire company.
