Another round of outdoor concerts are scheduled by the Bluemont .Concert Series this weekend, with the Dry Branch Fire Squad set to perform Saturday, Aug. 1 on the lawn of the Warren Green Hotel in Warrenton, and bn the steps of the Old Courthouse in Culpeper on Sunday.
According to a Bluemont Concert Series spokesman, “the Dry Branch Fire Squad is an aggressively traditional bluegrass band, with an emphasis on old-fashioned harmony singing. A capella, unaccompanied quartets are a special highlight of Dry Branch’s performances.”
The group has performed together since 1976, with concert appearances throughout the United States as well as a tour of southern Asia. They have played Wolf Trap, The Grand Ole Opry, The Smithsonian and many outdoor festivals, as well as recorded eight studio LPs.
The Dry Branch Fire Squad concert on the lawn of the old Warren Green Hotel will begin at 7:30 p.m. A $1 donation per person is requested, and Bluemont Concert organizers suggest blankets and lawn chairs be brought as well.
On Sunday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., the Fire Squad will perform on the steps of the Culpeper County Courthouse. Once again, organizers suggest blankets, lawn chairs and picnics be brought, and the requested donation will be $1 per person.
At both concerts, folding chairs will be available for the convenience of senior citizens, and refreshments will also be sold by local organizations during the intermission.
