Fun Runs, 5K
set in August
The Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department and the Fauquier Track Club will conclude the summer fun run schedule with two races in August - the first August 6 at C.M. Crockett Park, and the last August 13 at Fauquier High School. On both dates a one-mile walk/run will be held in addition to the 5K (3.1 miles). Entry fee for each is $1. Starting time is 7 p.m.
Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each of the following age groups: 12 and under, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and older, for m€n and women.
Running past beautiful Broadview Farm, former site of the Virginia Gold Cup horse race, the course for the Sunrise 5K is mostly flat, fast and scenic. The “women only” road race will be held on Saturday, August 15, beginning at 7 a.m. at Fauquier High School. Entry fee is $5 before August 13, $8 thereafter. Entries will be accepted on race day from 6-6:45 a.m.
