Accompanied by CMH staff members and physicians, the delegation received a thorough tour of Culpeper Memorial’s facilities.
Dr. Alexzandr Martynenko, leader of the group, expressed through an interpreter that he had learned much to report back to his research institute in Moscow.
When questioned through an interpreter about any differences or similarities he had noted during the tour, one Soviet doctor commented: “We have noticed many similarities: the equipment is of good quality, and your hospital is comfortable, wellplanned and cleverly devised. We find it very good.”
Russian cardiologist Alexandra Avtandilor said that he and his colleagues were very impressed with the quality and organization of American medicine and that they had found much in common during their tour to the United States.
“I wouldn’t be wrong to say that this tour to the U.S. has impressed everyone in the entire group,” said Dr. Avtandilor. “Everyone has been very hospitable, and we have found the medicine to be very well-organized here.”
