William R. Bryant was bom in Warrenton and graduated from Culpeper High School in 1964. He and his wife, Patsy Jean, are members of the Alum Spring Baptist Church. Commander Bryant has been employed by the Virginia Highways Department for 22 years, the last 15 of which as a staff appraiser for the acquisition of properties in connection with proposed highways construction.
Commander Bryant takes over the reins of The American Legion of Virginia, which has just earned not only its highest percentage of membership growth since 1946, but also greater than any other state comprising the largest of all veterans organizations. In recognition of this accomplishment, Virginia will be honored to march in the van of the parade of Departments at the forthcoming National American Legion Convention taking place in San Antonio, Texas, in August.
