A $4500 grant to Rappahannock

County to finance the development of a Comprehensive Plan for Water and Sewage has been approved by the Farmers Home Administration, reports E.C. Compton, the agency’s State Director. The grant will enable the county Board of Supervisors to give the county’s Planning Commission the financial assistance needed to hire a consultant engineer to aid with the development of a water and sewer plan.

The Flint Hill Fire Department opened its annual fournight carnival last night. A display of fireworks was enjoyed by many.

Miss Betty Lee of Flint

Hill has accepted a position as secretary at the local high school, from which she was graduated in June. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lee and succeeds Mrs. Brenda Settle Payne who held the position last year.

An old Virginia ham and chicken dinner will be served at the Castleton fire hall on Sunday, August 6, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Plates will be $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for children. The dinner is sponsored by the Castleton Ladies Auxiliary and is for the benefit of Castleton Volunteer Fire Department. A door prize will be given away.
