Practically any adult can go and purchase these toxic chemicals, with no restriction or .licensing, landowners who think they, have a right to spray their own property never' stop to realize it is not an isolated decision for their personal use only. Everything alive is affected. The weird things that happen elsewhere, mutations, cancers, contaminated water sources, will happen here too if such negligence of consciousness continues. We have successfully contaminated all of the Great Lakes to the point of no return, most all of which are toxic chemicals. But the water looks cleaner than it used to!
This is not an attack on this county’s attitude alone, it is countrywide. It is in the thoughts which persist from decades ago, that the earth can purify all of our abuses. Now there are not only chemicals to deal with; there are nuclear wastes too, and nobody in Virginia even has access to a place to dispose of household chemicals and insecticides that are leaking in various landfill sites.
Even if people are educated and are willing to make a real effort to dispose of these chemicals properly, where can they be taken? If we all want to find alternatives, even to present available environmental information, promote restriction laws and get them enforced, it will be too late. If we don’t have a healthful environment, we won’t need anything else, and the beauty that you see will be illusion.
