EMS Council

sets training

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Emergency Medical Services Council has announced that it will hold a number of training classes for EMS personnel in the five county area served by the council. Rescue squads in Rappahannock, Madison, Culpeper, Fauquier and Orange counties may participate in the training sessions.

EMS Council Training Coordinator LeiLani Stanley said that the following training classes for RREMS rescue personnel are being planned during the next few months:

• Emergency Medical Technician: Sept. 10, 1987 to Jan. 14, 1988. Classes to be held at Culpeper Rescue Squad building, Monday and Thursday evenings, 7 to 10 p.m. The squad building is located on Rt. 229 about one mile north of Culpeper. All participants must pre-register.

• Cardiac Technician: Aug. 20 to Dec. 14. Classes will be held at Fauquier Hospital, Monday and Thursday evenings, 7 to 10 p.m.

• EMT Refresher Friday, Aug. 7, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 8, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 14, 7-10 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 21, 7-10 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 22, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants in this course must pre-register by July 31, maintain perfect attendance and log eight hours emergency room duty to meet state requirements for recertification.

• EMT and ALS Competition: Friday, Aug. 21, 1 p.m. Madison Rescue Squad building. Each squad must supply its own equipment. To register for the competition, contact Lewis Jenkins (948-6418) as soon as possible.

To register, or for more information about any of the training classes, contact the RREMS office (825-6849) as soon as possible. Class registration is on first come, first serve basis. The EMS office is located in the rear of the Culpeper Rescue Squad building on Rt. 229. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
