Absentee ballot, voter regulation*

Under a new regulation which took effect July 1, any county residents who intend to vote by absentee ballot in the general election Nov. 8 must apply in person for a ballot at the Rappahannock County registrar's office in the Courthouse. Registrar Ruth Kilby also reminds residents that Oct. 8 is the last day to register to be eligible to vote Nov. 8. The registrar's office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. For more information, call " 675-3739.

Hunter safety class

With big game season fast approaching, Game Warden Jim Bankston reminds residents that all fir#t-time hunters, and all hunters 16 years of age or younger, are required to present certification of completion of a Virginia Game Commission hunter education course before a hunting license will be issued. A-*-- ~ class will be held at the Flint Hill fire hall ? ' on Oct. 17,18, and 19, from 6-9:30 p.m. There is no charge for the course, but participants must attend all three nights to earn a certificate of completion.
