Most people are articulate when talking about their value system. But it’s usually much easier to talk about things than to actually put them to practice. It is also easy to explain away shortcomings, or to make excuses for why we didn’t make the choice that - deep down inside - we know we should have made.
Adults struggle with this problem, just the same as do adolescents. When it comes to peer pressure, it’s just as difficult for grown-ups as it is for young people to do what is right rather than what everyone else is doing.
