Survivors include one son, Howard L. Hackley, Falls Church; one daughter, Ardelle Maros, Oxon Hill, Md.; one brother, Calvin Putnam, Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Thelma Poe, Front Royal and Hazel Cooke, Amissville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held today, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper. The Rev. Wesley Peyton will officiate and interment will follow in Orlean Cemetery.

Winfrey Butler
Mr. L. Winfrey Butler, 76, of Culpeper, died Sept. 15 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Butler was a native of Culpeper and had lived in Culpeper all of his life. His parents were the late Philip M. and Westwood Wharton Butler. He was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church and Phi Gamma Delta. He was retired from the Town of Culpeper as an engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Ann Butler, Culpeper; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy B. Adams, Fayetteville, N.C. and Mrs. Tucker B. Knighton, South Hill; two step-sons, Keith Dickson, Sterling and Scott Dickson, China Grove, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at the Fairview Cemetery on Sept. 17, with the Rev. John Farrar and the Rev. H.O. Browning officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Culpeper County Rescue Squad.
