Other cars were involved in our accident. Two more unrelated accidents had occurred. Rescue assistance also was provided by units from Gainesville, Haymarket, Vint Hill Fire Department and Warrenton’s three ambulances and their squad truck.
Most of us were taken to the . Fauquier Hospital Emergency Room. Dr. L. Bruther and his staff had a busy afternoon with our exams, X-rays, etc. Even so, a quiet friendly atmosphere and a sincere regard for each injured person was evident and appreciated by us all. Fortunately, my husband has only a separated shoulder, a cracked rib, and assorted bruises while I have a more extensive array of contusions decorated with poison ivy rash.
The next day, friends brought us back to the New Baltimore Garage to pick up personal effects left in our totally wrecked blue Thunderbird and then back to Madison to buy a red Thunderbird.
We deeply appreciate each person’s contribution to our rescue and recovery. We are grateful that Fauquier Hospital was nearby. For sure, we are living proof that buckling up seat belts can save lives!
