The Golden Bulldog Award is presented each year to those Members of Congress who vote to contain unnecessary government spending at least 75 percent of the time, based on a compilation of selected votes on economic and fiscal issues published in the “Economy Voting Record."
Two hundred and thirty Members of Congress - 158 in the House of Representatives and 45 in the Senate - were given the Golden Bulldog Award in 1988. Forty-three percent of Congress received the award.
Watchdogs of the Treasury is a Washington, D. C.-based nonpartisan organization whose award for fiscal integrity in government is presented annually.
