Washington, D. C. - Two-term Virginia Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. was recently presented the Golden Bulldog Award by the Watchdogs of the Treasury, Inc., for his 1988 votes to cut Federal spending, eliminate waste and reduce the Federal deficit.
It was the fourth Golden Bulldog Award presented to Congressman Slaughter since his election to Congress in 1984. He represents The Seventh District, which includes Rappahannock County.
Rep. Slaughter, who received a rating of 90 percent, said he was very pleased to again receive this award for his economic and fiscal votes. “My top priority is reducing the Federal deficit and, as my constituents have indicated, it should be the top priority of the Congress,”
