“If a man wants to give his daughter one acre to build a house on, I say by God, let him do it. . .If a family has only one acre, if they can divide it one more time and still meet health standards, we’d be far better off to let them do it,” maintained Supervisor Ellis Bingham, calling on his fellow members of the Board of Supervisors to either change the county’s land use laws to allow for “natural growth” or face the possibilty that the county’s form of government will be changed.
Col. Bingham’s remarks came last week at a public hearing by the Planning Commission on proposed zoning ordinance amendments to allow by special exception permit a sixth family subdivision exemption from density regulations, provided certain standards are satisfied.
