Don Askew was the resident engineer for the joint Fauquier-Rappahannock highway department residency for 15 years, leasing in 1987 to take the post of assistant district engineer for the Fredericksburg District. “I am as familiar with the Route 211 project as anyone in the state of Virginia,” said Mr. Askew in a telephone interview last week from his Fredericksburg office, noting that he was resident engineer for the improvement projects that brought the dual lanes (1) from Warrenton to Route 229 just east of Amissville, (2) through Amissville, and (3) from ,Amissville to Route 229, plus the project which put a boxed culvert at the Rediviva Bridge intersection where Route 622
