Gore children but also others in the neighborhood with school being conducted by a “live-in” teacher.
About 1900 Mr. Gore added five rooms for about $400, three bedrooms upstairs, a main hallway and staircase of indigenous black walnut, a parlor left of the hallway and bedroom to the right. These five rooms are now the main house.
To feed the up to 12 farm hands he employed, Tom Gore also added a large kitchen.
Oddly enough he did not include an interior connection between the old and new parts of the house. The children could go from the bedroom to the school room through an upstairs window, otherwise one used the porch. Today the parlor to the left is the dining room and the bedroom to the right is the living room.
