Church by the Rev. Jennings Hobson III.

The vandalism was reported early in the morning of Sept. 19 by Librarian Dee Brents. Capt. Streapy said that the arrests were made on the basis of fingerprints which he took from the lightpole, and interviews and statements from several individuals with knowledge of the incident.

Capt. Streapy said that the lantern, valued at $459, had been donated to the library by Col. and Mrs. Dieter Knuepfer.

He said that the stop sign and street sign at Gay and Middle Sts. were also vandalized at about the same time, but that no charges have been placed in that incident.
