The exact replica of the Liberty Bell, forged in the same foundry, has been touring the country for the past three years. RCES students got the opportunity to ring the bell, and their names will be filed in the National Archives along with the millions of other Americans who have rung the bell during its travels. According to Bob Walker, a spokesman for NS A, the Buddhist lay organization which sponsored the bell’s visit, “it is a symbol of the freedom the Constitution guarantees .... Part of its significance is that people are free to ring it, and by ringing it we can proclaim our patriotism and pride in America.’’
