A professional bicycle race from Albany, N.Y., to Rich* mond, Va., sponsored by financier Donald Trump is scheduled to pass through Rappahannock County Wednesday, May 10. Sheriff John Henry Woodward told the Board of Supervisors of the event during its meeting Feb. 6.
The “Tour de Trump,” involving at least 100 bicycles and as many support vehicles, will leave Front Royal that morning and travel mostly back roads to Route 211 just west of Shenandoah National Park Headquarters outside Luray, Sheriff Woodward said.
From there the cyclists will cross through the park on Route 211, coming through Sperryville before noon. The racers will head east out of Sperryville on Route 522, then turn south on Route 231 to travel toward Madison. That day’s race will end in Charlottesville.
