Bunny rolls

3-1/2 to 4-1/2 cups unsifted flour

3 Tbsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

2 pkg. active dry yeast

1 cup milk

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine

In a large bowl, thoroughly mix 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast. Combine milk and margarine in a saucepan. Heat over low heat until liquids are very warm, 120 degrees to 130 degrees. Margarine does not need to melt. Gradually add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed with electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover; place bowl in pan of water at 98 degrees . Let rise 15 minutes. Turn dough onto floured board. Divide into 6 equal portions.

To make bunny (side view’), divide each portion into halves. Shape one half into an oval to form body. Divide second half into thirds. One third, shape into ball to form head. Place in front on top side of oval.

The second third, divide into half and roll into 2 cylinders and shape as desired to form feet. Put on bottom side of oval to form front and back paws.

Divide last third portion of dough into half. Once again roll into cylinders shaping one end to form ear. Press side of thumb to form ridge in center of cylinder. This creates the inside of the bunny’s ear. Attach to top of head.

Use raisin or currant for eye.

Repeat using each portion to form remaining bunnies.

Cover; let rise in warm place 15 min. Bake at 425 degrees about 12 min. or until done.
