RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
STONEWALL-HAWTHORN DISTRICT
Due to the resignation, effective midnight on March 6,1989, of Nelson P. Lane, the position of Supervisor for Stonewall-Hawthorn Magesterial District is declared to be vacant.
It is the intention of the remaining members of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors, in accordance with Section 24.1-76 et seq. of the Code of Virginia, 1950 (as amended), to appoint an interim replacement, until a special election may be called for November, 1989. The person elected in the special election shall serve out the unexpired term of Mr. Lane, terminating December 31,1991.
In order to be considered, a candidate must bi at least eighteen years of age, a qualified voter of Stonewall-Hawthorn District and must have been a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for one year immediately preceding appointment.
The Board of Supervisors shall hold a public hearing to consider qualified applicants for this appointment, to be held on Thursday, March 23,1989, at the Courthouse in Washington, VA., at 7:30 p.m. The Board shall hold a special meeting on Tuesday, March 28,1989, at the same place and time to formally make their appointment.
Persons interested in the position are invited to submit petitions supporting their candidacy, lists of experience and/or qualifications, or any other pertinent information to the County Administrator, P.O. Box 222, Washington, VA 22747, by Monday March 20,1989, at 12:00 p.m.
