he meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse will give the board an opportunity to hear from those who are interested in serving on the board and from anyone else who wishes to nominate or support a candidate for the vacancy.
The supervisors will appoint someone to fill the vacancy at another special meeting on Tuesday, March 28, which will also be held at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse.
The person appointed at that meeting will serve until a special election in November, when the residents of Stonewall-Hawthorn District will select a supervisor to serve the two years remaining in Mr. Lane’s term. The board’s interim appointee may run for the seat, as may any other interested resident of the district.
