Committee, announced Monday that he is still in the race, but said he plans to meet with his committee later this week.
He said that he will make a decision on whether to continue his candidacy after the Board of Elections makes a determination whether or not Del. Guest has filed the required petitions to have his name placed on the ballot.
"My advisory committee has agreed with my decision,” Mr. Gilliam said, “and will continue to assist me in re-evaluating my candidacy in the light of the events that we anticipate will take place.”
Two Democrats, Barbara Greco of Warren County and David Crump of Flint Hill, are seeking their party’s nomination to the seat.
The filing deadline is Friday, April 14, when at least 250 valid signatures of registered voters in the district must be filed with the election board. Mr. Guest has asked the district’s Republican leadership to circulate petitions on his behalf, and said he expects, “pretty good support.”
