In the fourth, two Clarke hitters in a row made it to first base. The first runner was pegged by catcher Wesley Jenkins when he tried to steal second. The second runner was forced out by nice fielding by shortstop Julian Groves. The third out came when an Eagle runner on second base tried to run over Groves as he was fielding a grounder.
When RCHS came to the plate Smith. Jenkins, and Groves loaded up the bases but no one could bring them in. Rappahannock continued to shine defensively in the fifth when Porter snagged a line drive and nailed the runner at first for a double play.
