“This legislation sneaked through when nobody was paying much attention . . . It’s a sweeping plan. The committee will be covering some pretty exciting stuff,” Mr. McCarthy said.
Rappahannock will soon be involved with recycling at the landfill. Tentative plans, according to litter coordinator Nina Stamer, are for the recycling center to open on Saturday, May 13.
“We’ll start with glass and aluminum, and see how much response we get,” Mr. McCarthy said. “It’s easier to get the volumes of goods for recycling in an urban area. I want to let the rural jurisdictions’ voices be heard.”
