In explaining his decision to seek re-election to his seat in the House of Delegates, where he also serves as the Minority Leader, Mr. Guest cited the “tremendous expressions of support 1 have received from many people, not only in the 31st District, but statewide, all requesting that I change course and seek reelection.”
Mr. Guest noted his earlier decision that he would not run for the post when he announced his candidacy for governor, but said the lack of support for his gubernatorial bid forced him to reconsider.
The pledge to vacate his seat, he said, was made because “in good conscience” he could not seek both seats. The filing deadlines were the same, he said, “and I thought it improper to run for two nominations at once.”
