And, she added, anyone who would like to make a contribution to the Rappahannock Recreation Authority, which sponsors and benefits from the race, is also welcome. The authority oversees the operation of the Rappahannock County Park on Route 211 just outside Washington.
As always, there will be split times available along the course, as well as first aid provided by the Flint Hill, Sperryville and Washington Rescue Squads.
Before the race, a shuttle bus will take runners from the finish line in front of the county courthouse in Washington to the staging area on Route 522 on the north end of Flint Hill. The bus will leave Washington at 9 a.m.
Late registrations, at $10, will be accepted until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the starting area next to Settle’s Garage on Route 522 in Flint Hill.
For the first 300 finishers there will be redesigned t-shirts featuring a tortise and hare design, Ms. Murray said. And another Fodderstack tradition, handmade pottery trophies, also continues. Potter June Jordan has produced “really beautiful” trophies for this year’s overall and age group winners, she added.
And after the race, the Washington Baptist Church, just down Gay Street from the finish line, is having its Spring Event. There will be box lunches, a plant sale, refreshments and a flea market. Most of the shops in historic Washington will also be open.
