Soldiers’ names sought
County residents with relatives serving in the Persian Gulf or who have been called to active or reserve duty as part of Operation Desert Shield are asked to , " provide the names, APO addresses and birthdates of those servicemen and women. The information should be sent to the Rappahannock News, P.O. Box 59, Washington, Va. 22747, Attn: Service list. The newspaper will publish a list of the names so that other county residents who wish to correspond with their neighbors can do so. The project is being sponsored by the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the ?■ American Revolution. Rep. Slaughter to visit
Seventh District Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. will attend a Republican rally at the Washington fire hall on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. State Delegate Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. will also speak at the gathering. County residents are invited to come and meet Mr. Slaughter. Light refreshments will be served.
Mr. Smith comes to Washington
The Seventh District Democratic Committee will sponsor the Jimmy Stewart classic, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. Among the guests will be David M. Smith of Winchester, the Democratic candidate for the Seventh Congressional District. Admission to the film will be $9.80, with the proceeds to laenefit Mr. Smith's campaign. All interested residents are invited to attend.
