One of the rituals of fall during apple harvest time is making apple butter. If you’re lucky enough to have a huge copper kettle. . .and a large family to consume the finished product. . .you can make it the original way cooked outside over a fire. This is the way they were doing it this past weekend in Sperryville at the Apple Harvest Festival.
