Dr. John P. Snead III
Dr. John Peyton Snead III, 83, of Sperryville, died Oct. 7 at University of Virginia Hospital.
Dr. Snead was bom May 23, 1907 in Rappahannock, the son of the late John Peyton and Annie Keyser Snead Jr. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. and M.D. degree and worked in the county for 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Q. Snead; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Lindsey of Tampa, Fla.; one son, Dr. John Peyton Snead IV of Rixeyville; one brother, Rayner V. Snead of Washington; one sister, Mrs. Marjorie R us kin of Pratts; six grandchildren, Margaret Robbins of Sperryville, Susan Crossman of Nakomis, Fla., Stephanie Juarascio of Bellair, Md., John Peyton Snead V of Centreville, Carolyn C. Lindsey and Mark Eldon Lindsey, both of Tampa, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today, Oct. 11 at 11 a, m. at the Sperryville cemetery with Reverand Jennings W. Hobson III will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Snead, Sam Snead, Peyton Snead, Mark Lindsey, David Ryder, Carson Johnson, James W. Fletcher and H.B. Wood.
Contributions may be made to the Mary Quaintance Scholarship Fund, do Mary Schaefer, Sperryville, VA 22740.

Joseph Mills
Joseph Wilbur Mills, 86, of Huntly, died Oct. 4 in the Lynn Care Center.
A funeral was conducted Oct. 7 at the Willis Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Merlin W. Shorb. Burial was in the Willis Chapel cemetery.
